Possession

Possession (1926) is the richly detailed story of Ellen Toliver and her dubious rise to world fame as a concert pianist under the alias Lily Barr. Originally published in 1926, Possession is the second volume of what Bromfield called his “Escape” panel of four novels, collectively identified by him as “dealing from various angles with a strongly marked phase of American life.”
